On Sunday, January 3, 2016, the Independent Commission on Electoral Evaluation submitted its report to President Martelly for ensuring fair election in Haiti. Some of the measures recommended by the Commission to improve the electoral process and install confidence within the Haitian population include: (a) the number of party representatives (agents) to be reduced to 38,000 and they will be able to cast their votes only at the voting centers with which they are registered; (b) Presidential candidates may appoint two representatives for supervising the counting at the tabulation center; (c) training process for electoral staff should be improved; and (d) accreditation criteria for observation groups should be published before the Election Day. The Electoral Provisional Council (CEP) is presently working to implement most of these recommendations before the next election.
