The Artist in Issa El Saieh

For the many people living in Haiti and are very much interested in the country's art, the name Issa El Saieh is very popular. Issa El Saieh is a respected personality in Haiti in the artistic history as well as culture of the country.

Issa El Saieh died on the 2nd of February year 2005 at the age of 85 years old and he had a lovable character. Issa El Saieh is known as a key leader in the area of Haitian art. It might be argued whether he was the first or the second to sell a piece of art commercially in the restaurant of his brother which was known as the La Belle Creole in Port-au-Prince.

A few years later, he opened a gallery on the Rue de Quai and in the year 1964 relocated the art gallery to home which was close to the Grand hotel Oloffson on the mountain side. From this time on and foe the next forty years he conducted the art business with astonishing mastery.
