National School of Leogane set on Fire to protest Haiti election

As part of the violence taking place all over the country to prevent the government from implementing his plan to actually hold election on January 24, 2016, unidentified individual have set the National School of Leogane set on Fire. It was reported that the fire has caused major damages to the school.

In a press release dated 22 January 2016, by Me. Pierre-Louis Opont, the President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), the Elections of January 24 have been postponed. The CEP has temporarily suspended the second round of presidential and partial legislative elections deferring to a later date, not yet announced. The reason for postponement was disclosed as 'the deteriorating security environment'. As per CEP's intimation, "January 24 is no longer opportune for having elections considering the threats against the electoral infrastructure and to the population who would have to go vote."
