Wil Sylvince Blazes a Trail for Haitian Comedians

Haitian-American comic, Wil Sylvince, began his comedy career using material from incidents of personal embarrassment during his teens. His style is kinetic, punctuating laugh lines with mugging and wild gestures. He works the audience with eye popping, pregnant silences to prolong laugh lines, and fixed stares to underscore selected jokes.

Under the duress of his parents' urging, he majored in mechanical engineering at college. Comedy called to him, though, chiefly through Richard Pryor's ballsy comedy act that exposed black ghetto stereotypes as lies. Maxime Clerge or Pe Maximo is undoubtedly the most talented but underrated comedian that Haiti has ever produced. He is well known for stand-up comedy routine where he exhibits his superb ability to mimic the voice impressions of many famous personalities especially people like President Jean Bertrand Aristide, Alexandre Bonifas, Leslie Francois Manigat, Emmanuel Charlemagne and Mr. Reynold Georges.

Soledad O'Brien Exclusive Interview with Jean-Claude Duvalier

The former CNN host Soledad O'Brien, managed to interview former Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier, also known as "Baby Doc." This was done as a first segment for Al Jazeera America. She spoke with the former Haitian dictator for the channel's America Tonight. In that same segment, Soledad O'Brien also interviewed former political prisoner of Duval.

Festival Kompa Zouk Celebrates Kizomba dance and Haitian Culture

The Toronto Chamber of Commerce (TCC) is sponsoring the Fifth Annual Festival Kompa Zouk (FKZO), three days of exhibits, performances, and other activities beginning on Friday August 2nd, and ending on Sunday August 4th.

The new Chief Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince means business. Me René Francisco who was installed just one two days ago announced the end of "recreation" and "radio theater" by the people. He wants to create more discipline in the Haitian Media

According to Me René Francisco "The recess is over, the radio drama is over". From now on, there is no question of treating the authorities.

Legislative violence as fist fight broke in Haitian Parliament - Goumen Nan Paleman

A fist fight between members of the Haitian Parliament interrupted a session of the House on August 7, 2013. During a heated discussion some Deputies decided to get at each other and Some physical contact was exchanged in the incident that occurred. It's still unclear just what, exactly, the fight was about.
