Renovated work at Lycée Toussaint Louverture ended as new facility inaugurated.

On October 16, 2015, President Martelly accompanied by the Prime Minister Evans Paul, and the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Mr. Nesmy Manigat inaugurated the new premises of the Lycée Toussaint Louverture at the Quartier Ste-Anne, the Rue Saint-Honoré. The school was founded 69 years ago in 1949 and has so far trained over 60 batches of students. The reconstruction of school started with PetroCaribe fundings of $7 million by the IBT Group under supervision of the CSA group under the management and control of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation. The new school will have facilities for 300 students and 2,800 students in the basic and secondary sections respectively. The secondary sections will run in two shifts: morning and evening. Twenty one classrooms will be used for the morning section and twenty two for the evening. During his speech for the occasion, the President has affirmed his belief that quality education starts with the modernization of the school environment. He has also stated that his administration has ensured enrollment of more than one million primary school students in school on public funding and that has increased the net enrollment rate from an earlier 77% to 90%.
