Laurent Lamothe has declared his candidacy for President - Video
No more rumors. It is official. All the candidates for the next presidential election in Haiti are known with some major surprises. One of the surprises is former Prime minister Laurent Lamothe who has declared his candidacy for President.
Laurent Lamothe, the former Haitian Prime Minister who was forced to resign from his chair in last December, has submitted his nomination on May 20, 2015 as the presidential candidate under the banner of platform Peyizan. His decision to contest the election was not very unexpected, although it came less than three hours before the Wednesday registration deadline and a day-long of legal scrambling. However, his non-submission of discharge certificate issued by the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes (CSCCA) under the electoral law confirming non-misusage of any government funds, became much cause of uproars. His opponents claim that submission of discharge certificate issued by an independent auditor never acquits him of his accountability.
