Léon Bonnaud built the first medical store in La Vallée de Jacmel. He was also the pioneer to build a structured open air local market which has still remained one of the main important markets in the area. 'La Vallée' with the foundation of historic "Caisse Populaire" in 1946 became the birthplace of 'Haitian Cooperative movement'.

St John the Baptist Church offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea, bay of Bainet and its surrounding mountains. The open air market of Léon Bonnaud is open every Friday. Do not miss the L'Etang River, waterfalls and the Séjourné Pit, one of the deepest (167 meters) in the Caribbean.
