Before an audience of several thousand people, at the soccer stadium Silvio Cator in downtown Port-au-Prince, the new Cardinal of Haiti, Chibly Langlois celebrated his first Mass.

The new Haitian Cardinal is home. Mrs. Chibly Langlois returned to Haiti officially as the Cardinal of Haiti. He was officially welcomed at Toussaint L'Ouverture Airport by the Haitian President, Michel Martelly.

On Monday, Bebruary 24, 2014, the Haitian President Michel Martelly met Pope Francis at the Vatican in the Vatican Apostolic Palace,

The Haitian President was received in private audience with the pope. Following the meeting with Pope Francis, President Michel Martelly met with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin who was accompanied by Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, secretary for Relations with States.

It is official. Bishop Chibly Langlois has is now the new and first Cardinal from Haiti. He has been presented by pope Francis with a gold ring that is kissed by Catholics in the same manner as the pope's own ring would be.

Chibly Langlois who has been installed at a Vatican ceremony on Feb. 22 was born in La Valle in southeast Haiti. He is one among the 19 new cardinals named by Pope Francis on January 12. more »

On Saturday, February 1, 2014 the new Notre Dame D'Haiti Church in Little Haiti had its first Mass. This was the first Catholic Church built by the Haitian Community in South Florida.
